Question unclear: If you are in the process of undergoing a detailed evaluation your doctors have far more data than you can provide here. Herpes of the geniculate ganglion, Lyme disease, sarcoidosis and other entities must be considered, but HealthTap is not the place for individual diagnoses to be made. Good luck and best wishes. ...Read more

At 20 wk ultrasound, if they push hard on stomach to get view of the brain does it hurt the baby? Stomach hurt during, but not afterwards.

At 20 wk ultrasound, if they push hard on stomach to get view of the brain does it hurt the baby? Stomach hurt during, but not afterwards.

Ultrasound technique: It's pretty common to have to push on babies during ultrasound to get them into the right position to be able to see all of their anatomy. This does not hurt the baby, although it may cause a little soreness of the uterine muscle. If you have another ultrasound in your pregnancy, try drinking some juice about half an hour beforehand so that the baby will be moving around by itself. ...Read more

Ultrasound: Even though we did not get the complete result of your twins ultrasound, it is best to rely on your treating physician for information concerning it. If you need a second opinion (especially for twins) I suggest you take the Ultrasound images, which you can check out from the facility which did the ultrasound, and see a Maternal Fetal Specialist. They are the experts in this field. ...Read more

Muscular: It sounds like a muscle issue. I'm not sure why a brain or throat MRI would be done for upper arm problem. If it is painful or affecting your function, i would have it checked out again. ...Read more

What is the definition or description of: ultrasound of the brain?

Carotid duplex: Ultrasound of the brain itself, is no longer used. At one time an echo technique checked whether brain was shifted due to a growth, but now we have mri's to see directly. We use ultrasound now to check integrity of carotid artery flow, and inferential vertebral flow. ...Read more

Hello. : Hello. Doctor's check babies head sizes (head circumference) and compare it on a chart to other children of that age. 95th percentile means that his head is larger than the "average" head size at that age. I am glad that you have a healthy and active baby. Take care. ...Read more

30 week ultrasound showed asymmetrical brain ventricles on fetus. Rest of the scan perfect. Is this a normal variant?

30 week ultrasound showed asymmetrical brain ventricles on fetus. Rest of the scan perfect. Is this a normal variant?

Not really.: No, this is not a normal variant and is usually indicative of some type of compromise and blood flow, to the side of the brain where the ventricle is more prominent. The good news, is that a fetus's brain is very resilient, and as long as all else goes well from here on in, the baby can develop normally. ...Read more

Sonogram (Definition)

An ultraound, also known as a sonogram, is a painless and relatively inexpensive imaging test that utilizes sound waves instead of ionizing radiation. There are no side effects. Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In addition to diagnostic uses, such as evaluating abnormalities in the abdomen, pelvis, and breast, ultrasounds are commonly used to guide needle and catheter placement in a variety of surgical ...Read more
