How actuate are the ultrasound measurements?

How actuate are the ultrasound measurements?

Depends on what it i: The accuracy & precision of an ultrasound machine depends on many factors, including the freq of the ultrasound transducer (higher frequency = better resolution), but also the structure imaged: the deeper the object, the lower the frequency used, to get penetration. Also, the tech/user technique comes into play: did they get the angle right? How hard do they press? Doppler flow is similarly variab ...Read more

Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In addition to diagnostic uses, such as evaluating abnormalities in the abdomen, pelvis, and breast, ultrasounds are commonly used to guide needle and catheter placement in a variety of surgical ...Read more

How accurate are the baby ultrasound measurements? is it possible to give or take two weeks ?

How accurate are the baby ultrasound measurements? is it possible to give or take two weeks ?

It depends: In 1st trimester the measurements are very reliable. At the anatomy screen/survey (usually 18 - 22 weeks) the dating can be off by a couple of weeks. Standard measurements include two head measurements (the most accurate) and measurements of the abdomen circumference and the femur (thigh bone). Dating in the 3rd trimester becomes less accurate. ...Read more

3 different ultrasound measurements all done in 1st tri. Agree within one day of each other. All were taken within 2 weeks of each other . Accuracy??

3 different ultrasound measurements all done in 1st tri. Agree within one day of each other. All were taken within 2 weeks of each other . Accuracy??

Excellent: If all agree then gestational age is higher accurate meaning you can probably pinpoint the date of conception. However, despite this, it is not as good a predictor of the exact date of delivery. Many other things can influence when the process of delivering a baby. It will likely be very close to the predicted date. ...Read more

Concerned about edd accuracy. Is it possible for ultrasound measurements in the first try to be a month off? All of my edds have matched through preg.

Yes: If your doctor or technician made an error on your first tri ultrasound, then it would be possible for your edd to be wrong. If ur saying that every us you had after your 1st tri us agreed with each other and gave a different edd, consider discussing with ur doc to have edd changed. 1st tri us are most accurate, but you are right to suggest that person can make a mistake while performing. ...Read more

Some say that 12wk fetal ultrasound measurements can be off by 2wks, but some say only +\-5 days. Which is it?

Fetal Ultrasound Err: The usual figure cited is +|- two weeks for us performed after 12 weeks: http://www.Newbirthcompany.Com/estimated-due-dates/. There are better measurements (such as fetal crown-rump length) that are more accurate as the weeks go by. Don't worry - your obstetrician will be able to "nail down" a more accurate due date in the weeks ahead! ...Read more
