Ultrasound dating: First trimester ultrasound is accurate within 5-7 days. Lmp dating also assumes a 28 day cycle. Due date is based on lmp unless us off by more than 1 week 1st trimester or 2 weeks in 2nd. As you are already aware, there is not certainty if the baby's lungs have developed enough at this point. If you adamantly disagree with your doctor's medical recommendations, then you could request that the doctor help to arrange for a second opinion by another obstetrician. However, as a woman who has had babies, i can tell you that there is often a struggle between the woman wanting to be delivered earlier and the doctor who is wants to wait closer to term to allow for full development of the baby. ...Read more
