There: There are several options when it comes to augmenting the chin area.

Silicone implants are probably the most common. Unlike with breast implants, silicone chin implants are actually solid so there is no risk of rupture or leakage. This type of silicone has a many year history of safe use.

Other common implant materials include gortex, mersilene, and medpore. The type of material used is often based on surgeon preference and experience.

If you are looking for an option that doesn't include a implant you could consider a sliding genioplasty. This involve making a cut in the chin bone, advancing it forward (and/or up or down) and securing it in its new position with a titanium plate. ...Read more

Dentist now says if I want a screw type implant vs. A cemented one the cost of extra parts get added on. He did not know the extra cost. Strauman.?

Implant Costs: Not sure if you are asking what the costs would be for the parts or if Strauman is a good manufacturer. All major players make a good implant; each is slightly different and it is up to the surgeon to use what they feel comfortable with. Any additional costs for parts are minimal in relation to the entire case, so choose the prosthetic that is best for the situation and pay for the parts. ...Read more

Is the birth control implant method a safe choice compared to other types?

Is the birth control implant method a safe choice compared to other types?

VERY safe: The birth control implant (Implanon/Nexplanon) is extremely safe because it only releases the progestin, Etonogestrel. There is no estrogen and so the risk of clots is MUCH lower than any combined method. Failure rate is 0.05% in a year, which is almost better than getting your tubes tied. It is effective within a week of insertion and won't be affected by ANY antibiotics (except rifampin). ...Read more

A long history of endometriosis also leads to "adhesions" that can only be treated surgically. ...Read more

Partial denture: A retainer for this situation is usually considered a short term solution, but still appropriate, and sometimes a required step of a larger treatment plan to restore your bite. In this case it is called an interim partial denture and is much like a retainer which includes the two teeth.
