Two Year Old Sweating During Nap And Sleep
2 year old has started sweating from her head only during her day time naps. Is this normal? (Room temp 76 degrees with light blanket same as night)
My two year old wont sleep she wont nap and wont even go to bed at night until at least 12. Wakes up at all hours what do I do?
Sleep hygiene : I would encourage you to put he baby on a schedule for sleep.Ake day te fun, exciting and full of activities. Nigh is dark, quiet and boring. Make sure you put him to bed in his bed, in his own space, not in your room at the same time every night. Get him up at the same time in the morning. Do not let him nap late in the day and fill his days with activity. Follow the sleep hygiene answers. ...Read more

My 2 year old has a dry cough for a few days now, it is so bad, its disrupting her sleep at night and nap time. Allergies? Any suggestions for meds?
Possible croup: By far most coughs in 2 year olds are simple viral infections that do not need any medication. If the cough sounds like a barking seal or dog then it may be croup which is a special viral infection in the vocal chords and is treated by your doctor with steriods. If he has a fever then you also might consider pneumonia. ...Read more
I have a two year old son who weighs 26 lbs. He has a cough that keeps him from falling asleep. Is there cough medicine i could give him and how much?
Honey or codeine.: We prefer not to give cough suppressants to children that young. Often a teaspoon of honey will soothe the throat so that the cough is better. If the cough occurs hours after the child is asleep and especially if it is so severe that it induces vomiting then i would be concerned about cough variant asthma and would have the child checked by your doctor. ...Read more
My two year old bent her knee backwards when catching it between two couches she would not let me touch it and then slowly relaxed and fell asleep?
Wait and watch: If she has damaged or torn something, you will see it swell more over the next hour or so. The fact she was able to get to sleep tells me that the pain had subsided significantly, and hopefully she just hyperextended it a little bit. See how she is when she gets up. If she's doing well, then you can watch her. If she's favoring the knee, try a little motrin. If she won't bear weight, take her in. ...Read more
My 10 month old & 2 year old fight their sleep. They don't want to take naps or go to sleep. At night. Is that normal? Will it hurt them health wise?
Sleep hygeine: While it is not at all unusual for babies and infants to fight sleep, you still should work with them to establish a sleep routine and expectations about their sleep. What they learn about sleep now will likely affect their sleep habits for a lifetime. Especially at end of day, have a very specific routine to prepare for bed, then no tv, movies, etc to coerce sleep. Quiet room, quiet sleep! ...Read more
My two year old found and ate a bit of a choco laxitive will she be ok ? She weighs about 26lbs and doesn't have a problem going to the bathroom she is asleep and seems fine but im very worried
Anytime a child eats or drinks something they should not have such as a medication, cleaner, or non-food item, it's a good idea to place a call to the poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. They have the most up-to-date information and in fact are one of the resources emergency room doctors use when a child comes in sick because of something non-food related they ate. They can often tell you whether you need to worry or not and what to do. The good news is that odds are, your child will just have loose stools for a day or two, but it's worth placing the call since it's better to be safe than sorry.

My 3 1/2 year old son randomly stays awake for 20-24 hours at a time with no nap. He's not crabby or fighting his sleep, he's just simply awake! Help!
Never heard of that: surprises me that he really can go that long with no sleep . must be getting some deep rest in that period . Most important would be his behaviors. most kids who do not get enough sleep are extremely irritable and fussy and hyper. Make sure there is no caffeine in his diet and that includes chocolate. Hopefully just a phase and he will get back to good solid night sleeping for 10 -11 hours. ...Read more

My 2 year old coughs only when she is asleep. She does that at night and when she naps. When she is awake, she is healthy and normal.
Specify medicine: Pl specify what medicine was given for proper advice. If you meant Tylenol, (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen, the two most common meds used for children, one accidental overdose would generally not harm the child but warrants follow up with your child's doctor for Assessment of potential although rare, harmful effects on liver and kidneys, and blood testing as indicated. ...Read more

I'm flying 12-1/2 hours with my 2-1/2-year-old son. Last time we flew, he screamed 6 hours straight. What can I give him to keep him asleep or calm?
I wouldn't: The best aid for a nervous child is natural sleep.I encourage parents to get the kids up early for a few days before the flight so they are exhausted during the event and likely to sleep for most of it. If you try diphenhydramine, which is in most sleep aids, try it before the flight because up to 10% get hyper on it. ...Read more

During the day i nap, b4 i even fall asleep if i do, i sweat all over except hands and feet. Soon as I sit up I stop sweating. ?
Unusual: That's unusual I've never heard of someone who sweating is positional. If you're having fever this could be a sign of infection. If you're having diarrhea this could be something of a carcinoid tumor. This could also be due to anxiety !Visit your primary care physician for specific diagnosis and treatment ...Read more

Is there anything u can give a two year old to help him sleep? Is tylenol (acetaminophen) pm safe?
Yes- not a sleep med: Tylenol (acetaminophen) PM is safe at the recommended dose for your child. However, it should be used if he or she is sick rather than as a sleep medication. Once in a while that is not a problem. But regular use in that way will not teach your child how to calm down and get to sleep without meds. That is not what it is for. I also suspect that regular use is not safe. ...Read more

My 2 year old has fever that comes and goes. The feverlasts for an hour. During that time, she just wants to sleep. After that, she acts normal with no vomit etc. What can bethe cause? Can it be anything serious?
None well studied.: I don't know of any "natural anti-fungals" to combat valley fever. If you have a good immune system and it's not disseminated valley fever, then most people heal up well on their own. The things you can do to get better quicker are: don't drink alcohol or smoke, get plenty of rest, lower your stress levels (lots of positive thoughts), and have close follow up with your doctor. Best of luck. ...Read more
