Two Dvts In My Leg
Leg pain d dimer negative at 178 cut off 250 but previous d dimer two weeks ago was 73 scared of dvt?
D-DIMER not specific: D-dimer is significant when it is negative since it excludes clot formation. A positive d-dimer, however, is not diagnostic of a clot since it can be positive for other reasons. In a low risk patient with a negative d-dimer, the chances of a DVT are very low. ...Read more

I have two swollen lymp nodes in my right leg just below the knee, what should I do? Went to emergency room today becuase I thought I had dvt.
Generally infrageniculate lymph nodes are not palpable.
So if these are nodes and palpable there is a cause which needs to be found.
Infection and nodes responding,
lymph problem, neoplasm or something else.
See pcp and followup. ...Read more

Or see a vascular surgeon before spending time and dollars on unnecessary testing. ...Read more

I have blue spider veins in my leg and one or two small purplish veins. Am I at risk of DVT in pregnancy if I become pregnant? I'm terrified!!!!
No: These spider veins and small blue veins are simply a sign that some of your veins and a bit of back flow creating these veins that you see. DVT in pregnancy is always a small risk but you are no more likely than anyone else. These are really benign vascular formations and not associated with DVT. DVT as name involves deep veins not these superficial spiders. ...Read more
44 year-old female with a history of DVT and stroke; on Warfarin daily now with right leg swelling and bilateral leg pain.....?
Need good ultrasound study and a cardiac echo: Was there a reason found for the stroke? A clot in the leg may travel to the lung, but should not normally be able to get to the brain. The most likely reason it did is a defect in the heart. An echocardiogram will help sort the heart out, and can guide a repair. A good ultrasound of the legs is necessary to see if there is a recurrent clot. If not, another consideration is Post-Thrombotic Syndrome - failure o the valves in the leg veins from scarring after DVT. Patients with DVT need to wear compression hose daily for at least 2 yrs after DVT to minimize the risk of PTS. ...Read more

Sudden calf pain. But pain in upper thigh near butt for a week or two. Started running about a month ago. DVT? Or mire likely overuse or injury?
I'm 28. Found small DVT in calf two weeks ago. How likely is it for the clot to travel to lung while on lovenox (enoxaparin)?
Unlikely: Blood clots below the knee seldom travel to the lungs, even when untreated. While on lovenox, (enoxaparin) the risk is even lower ...Read more

Ultrasound and DVT: A venous duplex ultrasound is the most accurate test to evaluate for DVT between the lower calf and the groin. The accuracy of the test usually depends on the machine used and the expertise of the ultrasonographer and the interpreter of the exam. 3 negative ultrasounds is certainly strong evidence that no clot would exist between the areas examined. Clots, however, can occur in other areas. ...Read more
Swelling and? Pain: A DVT in the calf presents with unilateral fullness or swelling, with some mild discomfort or pain. However, DVT can be silent, with very vague and mild discomfort. DVT in pelvic veins may have almost no symptoms. A high index of suspicion in patients at risk is necessary. Venous doppler studies, a painless sound wave test, can clear or verify the diagnosis. Good luck. ...Read more
Pain and swelling: The most common symptom of DVT is pain and the most common physical finding is swelling. However, not everyone has these. If you have unexplained swelling with or without calf or thigh pain then a venous ultrasound would be indicated to look for a dvt. Sometimes even a ct scan or mrv is necessary. The bottom line is, if DVT is considered, then proper testing is required. ...Read more

A DVT is rarely: Symptomatic for two years however once there has been a DVT there will be disfigurement and disruption of the normal venous function in that area leading to intermittent swelling and pain. On appropriate anticoagulant therapy the clot itself should regress over several months and therefore not last two years but the recurrence rate is quite high (~10%/yr) without long term anticoagulation. ...Read more
