An ultraound, also known as a sonogram, is a painless and relatively inexpensive imaging test that utilizes sound waves instead of ionizing radiation. There are no side effects. Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. Man, u need to relax: There is no way one can determine from fetal US pictures if the baby does or doesnt resemble them. The unborn baby is still developing and change their appearance, including facial features right upto and AFTER their birth. Try to appreciate the beauty of human development inside the womb and the miraculous process of birth. There are better ways to handle doubts afterwards. Be supportive now. ...Read more

I was curious how far along i'd be if the ultrasound said 6.5 cm/1.3/27 Hz at the top of my picture. ?

I was curious how far along i'd be if the ultrasound said 6.5 cm/1.3/27 Hz at the top of my picture. ?

Sorry Mildred,: those numbers are most likely related to the ultrasound settings, (Depth/gain/frequency) Ask your OB or sonographer for your dates or measurements. In early pregnancy we measure crown-rump-length (CRL). Later, the fetal head diameter (biparietal diameter or BPD) from "ear-to-ear." Also look for abd. circumference (AC), head circum. (HC), or femur length (FL) since these are used more often. ...Read more

Had ultrasound at 6. 2 weeks one had heartbeat 122. Dr said was a twin other sac in ultrasound will I expel it empty sac or does it go away?

Dissolves: Commonly twin gestation turns into single one due to loss of one fetus. As long as this happens early, there is usually no consequences for the remaining fetus. The other one is reabsorbed. Usually this happens for a good reason, and may mean one is not healthy. You could not have prevented it or caused it either. Get followup U/S to make sure you baby is growing well inside you. Best wishes !! ...Read more

So I went to get an ultrasound and they told me it's a girl but I can't tell. I tried looking up other ultrasound pictures and I just can't tell.

Hard to tell: The ultrasound is relatively reliable after 18-20 weeks when read by an experienced radiologist. In simple terms "the turtle must stick his head out" to see boy parts, and if they took enough time to evaluate the area it would be evident. I never bet the farm on an ultrasound. Although they are pretty good today I have seen them be wrong . ...Read more
