He already had his normal colonoscopy and it was fine so if all the tests came back ok what is causing him to still have this hematuria?
What causes on & off hematuria? Blood earlier, went to hospital & no hematuria, came back home & there was blood. No other symptoms. Tests were normal
Complex: Depends on age and gender and medical history and if blood is visible. Seeing a urologist for older folks is the place to start. Does the person smoke? The urologist may ask for a CT scan and if their workup is negative, may need to see a kidney doc. Sometimes this is a frustrating condition, but most often cause can be found. Terminal hematuria, increasing in volume & frequency but both dipstick & lab tests normal. What next step? Concerned Dr won't prescribe further tests.
Terminal hematuria (disptick & lab results normal) is increasing in frequency; now coupled with diarrhea. What could it be? Thanks!
See a Doc: If dipstick & labs ( do you mean microscopic urine analysis) are normal then what do you mean by terminal hematuria?. Combination of diarrhea with gross or microscopic hematuria especially with some other symptoms such as skin rash, arthritis or blood in the stool and history of travel needs evaluation & management. My suggestion you should talk to your GP. ...Read more
