Not to worry but: This size is not too large to be overtly concerned as incidental adrenal masses are common nowadays as more people are subjected to ct scans for various reasons. However, i don't think this should be ignored and you will need basic testing to make sure this "incidentaloma" is in fact the case and to rule out any "hyperactivity" coming from the adrenals such as excess aldosterone or cortisol. ...Read more

Not sure: Dx of a benign adrenal tumor is made on scan with a solitary small nodule in adrenal. Occassionally known mets to adrenal appear as small nodules iel lung, melanoma, breast to adrenal. If kidney tumor was present it would have shown up on scan. Dx of kidney cancer not made on blood test, there is no marker for kidney. Angiogram, PET/CAT and bx of lesion used to make dx. ...Read more

Variables: Hi. 2 big issues: 1) is it benign or malignant, and 2) is it overproducing a hormone or not? My advice is to see an endocrinologist comfortable with diagnosing adrenal tumors. It's a complex field, and I'm too far away to do it for you! ;-) Hormone tumors could be Cushing's, aldosteronoma, or pheochromocytoma. The work up will include CT scan attenuation.
