Not likely from MVP: The symptoms your describing are not likely to come from your mild mvp; most likely muscle spasm (intercostal--muscles in-between your ribs). If you are physically fit/active and able to exercise w/o difficulty, then it is even more reassuring that it is not heart related. Good, deep breathing exercises, stretching/chin-up type of activities may help. If persistent, consult doc. Good luck. ...Read more

Random "buzzing" sensation in middle lower part of chest. Felt like a cell phone vibrating inside of my chest. Painless, minute. What could it be?

Advice: I would recommend seeing your doctor for an EKG to see any abnormalities. This can also be GI related. Have a small red dot on my left chest that when I scratch it it hurts my chest and the sensation feels like it hurts my left back. What can it be?

Sounds mysterious: Dermatologists like to look at dots on the skin. For a small red dot on the chest, one can see a primary care doctor first, or go straight to a skin doctor. Reddish coloring usually means there is more blood flow to the spot. Dermatologists can use a laser to remove spots caused by tiny blood vessels (such as some birthmarks and "spider" hemangiomas), and can also talk about other treatments. ...Read more

Have a flutter in my chest has become more and more frequent with age. Is it serious? The flutter started when I was about 6 I am now 35 it happens frequently when I am very active. Sometimes if I work out, certain exercises cause the sensation when I am

There: There are a number of reasons you might be feeling a fluttering sensation in your chest. It is possible that with exercise your normal heart beat becomes stronger and you are then able to feel it even though it is a normal heart rhythm.

It is also possible that you have an arrhythmia, or irregular heart beat. There are many types of arrhythmias and the only way to know for certain is to have an ECG taken when you are feeling the fluttering. Sometimes this is best done by wearing a holter monitor, or an ECG that you wear continuously for a day or longer. The heart rhythm is then analyzed and your doctor could then determine what type of heart rhythm changes you might have.

The most common types of arrhythmias are single skipped beats and are called premature atrial contractions (pacs) or premature ventricular contractions (pvcs). These are benign and are not dangerous or worrisome. If your heart seems to race continuously for seconds to minutes or longer, you might have a more serious arrhythmia that may or may not require further treatment.

If at any time you feel the fluttering and you feel like you might faint, or you cannot breathe well, or you have chest pains, you should call your doctor immediately. ...Read more

Cardiac VS Reflux: First, you need to prove to yourself this is not cardiac, so discuss this with your doctor. Call tomorrow and get an appointment. If basic cardiac work up is ok, then reflux can be considered. Gerd can cause occasional esophageal spasm, which can mimic cardiac pain. It's usually relieved by swallowing liquid.
