Tucks Hydrocortisone Medication
I have been dealing with an itchy anus for two months now. I've tried gentle cleaning, witch hazel, and hydrocortisone cream, bu it still itches after I go poo. What could be the cause? I don' have hemorrhoids by the way
THe most: Common cause of anal itching especially if it wakes you from your sleep is caffeine followed by excess perspiration. Do not use witch hazel! cut out all caffeine and use corn starch powder on your bottom when getting dressed and whenever you feel dampness or itching in that area. Avoid petroleum based creams of any kind. ...Read more

Saliva tests and symptoms show low functioning adrenal glands, but how to know if there is need for hormonal medications such as hydrocortisone?
Work with your Dr: The accuracy of the salivary test results are depended on many factors including timing of the test and type of assay used. If your Dr determines the results are truly low, additional testing is needed to determine if due to primary or secondary adrenal insufficiency. Work with your doctor or endocrinologist and do not start hydrocortisone until then. ...Read more

Does low dose cortef (hydrocortisone) heal the adrenals, helping the patient to feel well again and enabling them to eventually go off the drug? Non-addison's.
No: Taking any dose of steroid causes the adrenal glands to work less, as the pituitary gland regulates your adrenal hormone level. If your adrenal glands truly do not work, you need lifelong adrenal hormone replacement. However, I see people who have been diagnosed with "adrenal fatigue". This is not a true medical diagnosis. Most of these people have no adrenal problem at all. ...Read more
