Fsh (Definition)

Fsh is a peptide hormone synthesized in the anterior (forward) pituitary gland in both males and females. The name 'follicle stimulating hormone' refers to its role in females, namely to recruit and prepare an oocyte (egg) in the first half of the menstrual cycle leading up to ovulation. Fsh is often measured in blood to test a woman's ovarian ...Read more

May be normal : Hello Amanda . FSH and LH levels vary during the phases of men'straul cycle . These values are still within normal range expected during different phases of the cycle . For example normal LH values for your age are : 1-18 mIU/dL in the first half of cycle . 20-105 mIU/dL in the mid cycle and 0.4 -20 mIU/ml in the second half . ...Read more

It depends: Totally on where they are drawn relative to your menstrual cycle, age, and also the functional capacity of your ovaries in terms of estrogen secretion and egg production. Lh normal is 1-20 with a surge before ovulation. Fsh is lowest 3-5 days after last menses. ...Read more

High follicle-stimulating hormone (fsh) and luteinizing hormone (lh)--what are normal levels at ovulation?

Varies: Lh levels peak just before ovulation, usually over 25 iu/l. During the rest of the cycle lh levels should be very low. Fsh levels are slightly high (5-10 iu/l) around cycle day #3 and also peak just before ovulation, around 15iu/l. ...Read more

3.1 Prolactin level? Pituitary Microadenoma TSH levels up and down, no other tests done. Is this level okay?

3.1 Prolactin level? Pituitary Microadenoma TSH levels up and down, no other tests done. Is this level okay?

Normal prolactin: This is a good prolactin level for a follow-up assessment. Surprisingly so. Are you on any medications? have you had surgery on the pituitary? Regardless, with these labs, the appropriate course is follow-up. Re-check the labs in 6-12 months depending on symptoms. ...Read more

Fsh level 7.5, LH level 11, progesterone level 2.5, and thyroid level 1.8. Are all these normal? 16th day of cycle. Irregular periods.

Sounds like PCOS: These levels show you have not ovulated by day 16 due to the lower progesterone. Typically throughout the month the fsh is higher than the lh. The lh goes up just before ovulation to trigger the release of the egg. This is what on ovulation predictor kit is checking for. You could be seeing the lh surge just before ovulation which could happen as late as day 20, or it could be high b/c of pcos. ...Read more

Is PCOS or non classic CAH?FSH/LH are 1:3 ratio Testosteron Androstenedion 17Oh Progesteron are high Cortizol DHEA-S SHBG PROLACTIN Normal ACTH low

ACTH stimulation: If you have features of both problems, the male hormone levels and menstrual irregularities and infertility are the hallmarks of a diagnosis of PCOS. What does your Endo or Gyne/Endo say about this ? Ask them for answers, which may include an ACTH stim test to see how your pituitary axis is functioning to start with, followed by more adrenal function testing... ...Read more

High Total T, high SHBG, low Free T, very high FSH (22.8), normal LH, normal prolactin, low estradiol, normal TSH, normal metabolic and CBC. Ideas?

Hormone tests: By themselves, without context, these labs don't say much of anything. They are confusing, and beg the question of why they are being done. Best to see an Endocrinologist. ...Read more

Thyroid blood test: normal tsh, and normal t 4, slightly lower free t3 (liothyronine). What is a normal TSH level?

Thyroid blood test: normal tsh, and normal t 4, slightly lower free t3 (liothyronine). What is a normal TSH level?

0.4-4.5: In most labs, the normal TSH ranges between 0.4 and 4.5. Most people have TSH levels under 2.5. One can still be normal with higher TSH levels, but if you have hypothyroid symptoms, a mildly high TSH could be a sign of developing hypothyroidism. Free T3 (liothyronine) levels are not accurate in many labs, so a slightly low level may be meaningless. You should see an endocrinologist if you have symptoms. ...Read more

Can this be hypopituitairism: high cortisol, highish prolactin, low HGH, lowish TSH, low LH and FSH in luteal phase, (lowish in follicular), low ADH (vasopressin)?

Can this be hypopituitairism: high cortisol, highish prolactin, low HGH, lowish TSH, low LH and FSH in luteal phase, (lowish in follicular), low ADH (vasopressin)?

Pituitary: It is difficult to diagnose hypopituitarism vased on labs you provided. High cortisol goes against hypopituitarism. High prolactin can lower FSH and LH.. TSH normal range is 0.3-4.. If pituitary dysfunction is suspected , we check Free T4, not TSH.. I hope this answers your question ...Read more

Fsh, lh
follicular stimulating hormone
(fsh)
4.96 and LH is 2.89 .Is this normal?

Probably: Normal ranges can vary from lab to lab, so the 1st step would be to compare your results to the reference range, usually listed in parentheses such as (1.5 - 10). For hormone tests, however, results have to be interpreted in the context of what is happening clinically. Expected values for someone who is pregnant, or on birth control pills, or who should be ovulating at the time could all differ. ...Read more

Lab tests: SED 25, glucose 80, luteinizing horm 5.0, thyroid stimulating horm 0.966, FSH 7.1. All on 12/17/14. Related to chronic hives?

No: See a dermatologist. Do you take aspirin or any meds or any herbs or vitamins, etc.? Hives for over 6 weeks is termed chronic urticaria and is usually not allergy. Meanwhile you can try Zyrtec (cetirizine) (cetirazine) 1 or 2 a day. Sometimes larger doses may be used. There is a chance it could make you sleepy. ...Read more

Need reverse T3 (liothyronine): Just commenting on the thyroid labs: i think you may have a slight hypothyroid problem, but hard to tell without complete labs. Is the T3 (liothyronine) a total or free? Also reverse T3 (liothyronine) needs to be done to know for sure. ...Read more

Person with normal Total T4, T3 (liothyronine) Uptake, FTI, Ultrasensitive TSH but LOW Total T3 (liothyronine) (63.55 ng/dl) = Synthroid dose needs to increase?

Person with

normal Total T4, T3 (liothyronine) Uptake, FTI, Ultrasensitive TSH

but

LOW Total T3 (liothyronine) (63.55 ng/dl)

=

Synthroid dose needs to increase?

It's OK: Hi. Your TSH is "normal", but I'd shoot for a value on therapy generally around the 1.0-1.5 range. The total T4, T3 (liothyronine) resin uptake, and FTI are prehistoric tests no one in the thyroid field has used for years. Your body regulates conversion of T4 to T3 (liothyronine), so your T3 (liothyronine) should be just what the body ordered. Your T3 (liothyronine) is close to the normal range; if you repeat it it's likely to be within normal range. ...Read more
