I am experiencing passing a lot of gas, frequent stools, difficult stools, feeling of unfinished defecation and thin, pencil-like stools.

Should get evaulated: Being a 26 y/o female, it is likely that you have irritable bowel syndrome and with the frequent loose stools can cause significant anal/perianal irritation, at times bleeding from it. If you have been having symptoms for yrs, ibs is likley. If this is new, something else maybe causing your symptoms such as ulcerative colitis etc..I recommend consulting your doc for an eval. Colitis: the differential diagnosis is vast. Infectious...need for stool cultures. IBS celiac and other immune diseases. drug side effects. Mild viral illness: Sounds like a mild "viral gastroenteritis" or stomach virus. Feed through the diarrhea and protect his bottom with diaper creams and rinsing gently (not wiping after his bowel movements). Starches like rice, cereals may help. Constipation: If you still feel constipated in the sense that you continue to have an urge and need for a satisfactory bowel movement, you may have some impacted hard stool with only liquid feces being expelled around it. Not worrisome: Perhaps you had a stool plug which has now passed. A "good news" is that you have not described bleeding per rectum. Changes in bowel pattern are however a "red flag" to doctors.
