Switched from desogen (ethinyl estradiol and desogestrel) to generic apri. Are there any differences?
Yes: Generic versions of medications are usually fine, but they are not identical. The fda allows for a modest degree of difference in "bioequivalence". Essentially, a generic medication is allowed to be sold if it is between 80% - 125% of the brand name medication. Most generic medications are fine for most people, but there is always some percentage of patients for whom they are different. ...Read more

I'm currently taking buproprian (generic for wellbeautrin) is there a big difference between brand name mental health drugs and generic?
In some, yes: By law in the us, all generics are supposed to contain equivalent amounts of active ingredient -- but they sometimes don't. There have been problems with generic bupropion, in some cases. Also different companies use different fillers and dyes in their products -- which can result in differing effects in patients also. Please talk with your doctor & the pharmacist who dispenses your medication. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

The price!: With very rare exceptions, the vast majority of generic drugs are every bit as good as the brand name. However, the brand name usually costs a whole lot more! the active medicine should be identical but there may be differences in the fillers and binders (most drugs have many ingredients besides the active medicine). Some people may tolerate one more than another due to these minor differences. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Possible cyst: Trivora is a low dose pill and while effective for birth control might not be strong enough to totally suprress your ovaries and that allows possible cysts (usually small) that could explain symptoms. Might want to try a stronger pill or even one of the pills where you can even skip your periods and see if that helps. If not my next rec would be to get a sonogram to check uterus and ovaries. ...Read more

Can you have sex anytime at 4th month of taking trivora? Is it safe a few days before placebo? And is it safe during placebo? And right afterplacebo?
Yes: Oral contraceptive pills are designed to suppress ovulation all month as long as you take them correctly. Each pill should be taken at about the same time each day. The seven days of placebo should not be enough of a break to cause ovulation (or egg release) therefore, pregnancy should not occur. If you do not start your new pill pack on time, however, ovulation could occur and thus pregnancy. ...Read more
