Rough time...: You must have had some pretty bad injury to have to go through all that you did. Since I don't know all the details of the past 19 years, if you haven't yet, get another opinion with a physician that deals a lot with foot/ankle trauma. A fresh set of eyes may help. No: There could be some pain after coming out of immobilization. Depending on how long you are following surgery will depend on how much discomfort you have. The pain however should be less than before surgery. You should have a repeat x-ray and be checked. ...Read more

Does it hurt: If it hurts you or if you have limitation, then surgery is the only way of removing the spur. Physical therapy could help with pain and range of motion but to remove the spur surgery is the only treatment. ...Read more

Maybe: Is truely nondisplaced then no surgery necessary. If it is have then surgery. Even 2 mm of displacement can lead to prolonged healing up to 16 weeks. ...Read more
