No: If you feel that you now have a recurrent UTI following adequate treatment and symptom resolution of a recent earlier UTI as described, failure of current symptoms to again resolve suggests either an alternative non-UTI diagnosis or, more likely, a new UTI by a bacteria now resistant to Septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) in which case you "do not" need to be off Septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) to obtain a valid repeat urinalysis and urine culture. ...Read more
