Trigeminal Nerve Exercises
The brain and spinal cord communicates with what is occurring in the internal organs and limbs by nerve fibers where are like electrical wires with insulation (myelin) and the "copper" (axon). Within brain and spinal cord these nerves connect to other nerves via synapses on both axons and dendrites. A nerve can carry information regarding sensations, and ...Read more

Trigeminal nerve: The most common form of paroxysmal orofacial pain is trigeminal neuralgia. Typically, a pain attack is accompanied by tic-like cramps or involuntary spasms of the facial muscles ("tic douloureux"), and often leads to a complaint of muscle pain. See a neurologist for evaluation, tests, imaging and treatment. ...Read more
Modify or decrease the trigger agent.

Certain medications like Carbamazepine can assist in relieving the painful jolts.
Surgery- microvascular decompression can also help in refractory cases. ...Read more
Migraines: The function of the trigeminal nerve should remain normal in patients with migraines (good facial sensation and good masseter muscle strength). However, it is the trigeminal nerve the main neural structure implied in the mechanism of migraine. A cascade of neuro-inflammatory response on the trigeminal nerve is what ultimately mediates the pain in migraine sufferers. ...Read more
For migraine...: ...there are theories that the trigeminal nerve is involved. Maxalt (rizatriptan) works to decrease and stop abnormal firing and release of certain chemicals that cause the migraine pain. For the more typical trigeminal disease, trigeminal neuralgia, Maxalt (rizatriptan) does not have any effect because the mechanism of pain is different. Good question! ...Read more
See neurologist: Trigeminal nerve or facial nerve neuralgia. Episodic neuropathic pain disorders are characterized by sudden volleys of intense, sharp stabbing pain of short duration that occur along the unilateral distribution of the involved nerve (Trigeminal or Facial). Ache under Lft jaw, occ'l numbness in cheek/eye. Trigeminal nerve line but doesn't fit neuralgia description. RARE shooting pain. 3 doctors don't know?
Most likely pain is coming from injury to fascia in neck/jaw/upper back. You may be able to find tender "trigger points" in the muscles of your neck, upper back, and jaw. They will cause any sensation you can describe (numbness to burning, aching, cramping, knife-like), and also be difficult to localize.

Are both cluster headaches and migraines related to the trigeminal nerve? If so, how are they related? How does the trigeminal nerve affect one's head
You are apparently young and smart. This could be a good research project for you.
Cluster headache, like trigeminal neuralgia, produces what is called a "neuralgiform" pain syndrome (no space for details). Migraine is different. But both are neurological syndromes. The exact biological differences are poorly defined. "Cortical spreading depression" is more typical of migraine. ...Read more
I had vestibular neuritis six months ago, and now I developed some neuropathy on the trigeminal nerve, could there be a relation?
It is possible: It is possible that they are related. The vestibular and the trigeminal nerves are both cranial nerves and it is certainly possible that whatever is causing the problem with one of them could also be affecting the other. The good news is that if your neurologist can find a treatment for one it should help the other condition. I hope you are symptoms free soon ...Read more
