I've tried hydrocortisone ointment for my ears, but my ears still itches. What can I do?

Allergies: This sounds like you have some allergies. Dust in homes can be tainted with lead dust, cockroach dander, pet dander, cigarrette smoke, among other toxins and allergic offenders. You need a whopping dose of antihistamine now, say 10 mg cetirizine by mouth. I am worried a little about your chest pain, especially if you have asthma. Do you have an albuterol inhaler at home with spacer? ...Read more

I've been washing my itchy, sore, scalp with dandruff shampoos and dermarest shampoo. My scalp still itches. Why?

Doesn't change: the underlying condition. Most of the causes (allergy, eczema, psoriasis) have inflammation and the over the counter shampoos are not anti-inflammatory. Frankly, the prescription ones are quite weak also. Usually oral medication is required. ...Read more
