Not as effective: Follow your doctor's advice. Bacterial vaginosis needs treatment for a week; single dose is not effective. Even for trichomonas, a full week is best. A single 2 g dose of metronidazole usually is prescribed, but fails to cure 10% of cases. You should also have been tested for other STDs like gonorrhea and chlamydia, which occur with high frequency in women with BV or trich. Good luck! ...Read more

Trichomoniasis: The treatment of choice is oral antibiotics for all sexual partners at the same time and abstain from sex till treatment is completed and symptoms are resolved. CDC recommends rescreening at 3 months post therapy for sexual active female since there is a high reinfection rate.
