Triaminic Cold Medication
Can you take Zicam and triaminic thin strips together? I have a cold and I've been taking Zicam regularly, I would like to take a triaminic thin strip. Will this cause any reaction or any side effects?
Cold preparations: Over the counter cold medicines do not reduce symptoms enough to risk the side effects including changes in heart rate and blood pressure. Try humidifier, lots of liquids (chicken soup!) and ice pops. And see your doctor if he is very uncomfortable. Best of luck and get well soon! ...Read more

2.5 hours ago we gave our 3.7 yrs old triaminic night time cold and cough (2.5 ml). Now he has 100.2 f fever and gave him ibuprofen (5ml). Is it safe?
Yes: Always make sure that the ingredients in one drug don't overlap with the other, so you avoid overdosing (classically, it was very easy to overdose on tylenol due to the amount of acetaminophen-containing medications). There does not appear to be overlap between these two. Hope he feels better! ...Read more

It depends: Children's Triaminic products can be given to a child of 18 months but only those with acetaminophen/dextromethorphan. If allergies are thought to be present than you need an antihistamine like cetirizine for children. Check with your pediatrician. ...Read more

My 7 mo old baby girl has had 99.6 fever for 3 days. She also has a runny nose. She's been on baby triaminic since saturday. What should we do?
Make her comfortable: A temperature of 99.6 is not considered a "fever". If the baby triaminic is for fever reduction, stop using it! It sounds as if she has a cold, for which you can make sure that she receives adequate amounts of fluids. Also, keeping her head slightly elevated and using a humidifier or vaporizer with keep the mucus loose. Saline nose drops and bulb to remove mucus. No cough/cold medications! ...Read more
