My pharmacy switched me from tri-sprintec to tri-previfem this month. Why would they do that? Should I be concerned?
Because that is: The generic they made a deal with both pills are generic but you may or may not like the new pill as much since it may have different amounts of hormones, I always prescribe brand name pills for my pts, use generics for other meds, my #1 pill is loloestrin by law a brand name has to have 90% of the active drug and most have 98%, a generic only has to have 72% at the least which can cause problems! ...Read more

I'm on tri-previfem 28 day. I have taken 4 inactive pills (sun-wed) & got period yesterday. Can I start a new pack to lighten/slow my period?
May not help: It's normal to start your period while you are on the inactive pills. I cannot guarantee that starting a new pack will lighten or slow your current bleeding cycle and thus I wouldn't necessarily recommend it as a habit as it just isn't a guarantee. If you wanted to avoid having your period in general you could skip the inactive pills every month altogether. You may have just light spotting. ...Read more

I'm taking a birth control called Tri-previfem and it makes me mad & sad all the time. Is there a type of birth control that can fix my moods?
In amounts found...: ...naturally in food, fenugreek is safe, but in amounts found in supplements, it may be unsafe whether you're on BCP's or not. I don't recommend it. Pueraria has phytoestrogens, plant chemical with estrogen-like effects. It might be helpful for women w/ estrogen deficiency. But for you, already on an estrogen-containing contraceptive, I don't recommend it. Hope this helps. Dr. Anne ...Read more

I'm on the birth control Tri Previfem (norgestimate and ethinyl estradiol). I took one 12 hours early, do I need another form of birth control and how should I take the rest of the pack?
Early better > late: Management depends on timing of cycle. You could take a second pill at the regular time, and then continue daily, which will cause your period to come 1 d early, and resume next cycle BCP one day early. If late in the cycle, you would be fine to wait for the next day's pill, and you may have some spotting, but risk is low. Additional protection is always the safest. ...Read more
