Is there a difference between Ortho tri cyclen (ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate) and sprintec? My new doctor switch me from sprintec to ortho tri cyclen (ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate).
Yes: Oral contraceptive pills have 2 hormones - a progesterone and an estrogen component. Sprintec is a monophasic pill ie the progesterone and estrogen components are fixed and does not vary with the last 7 pills hormone free (inert). Ortho tricyclen, the progesterone component increases weekly up to week 3, and the last 7 pills inert. I find that there is more break through bleeding with tricyclen. ...Read more

No : Differnet pills, I do not like either of those at your age you should be using the lowest dose pill which is loloestrin 10 mcg estrogen safer for anyone in their 40s and if u do not want kids I do in office tubals in my office takes 5 minutes, easy miss 1/2 day work , no incisions. ...Read more

Whats the difference between cryselle, ogestrel, lo ogestrel, ovral (ethinyl estradiol and norgestrel) and lo ovral (ethinyl estradiol and norgestrel). Do they react the same as cryselle?
Ovral (ethinyl estradiol and norgestrel) had 50 mcg: Estrogen, lo-ovral has 35 mcg estrogen, i never use either of those pills anymore, they both have way too much estrogen in them, I have almost all of my pts either on 25, 20 or 10 mcg estrogen combo pills and I use the 24 day ones not the 21 day ones.Please discuss with your obgyn, generess has 25 mcg, loestrin has 20 mcg and loloestrin has 10 mcg estrogen, the lower the dose the safer. ...Read more
