Bacterial vaginosis?: Ureaplasma is normal in female genital tract, rarely any need to test and if a test is positive, usually no treatment required. Gardnerella is also normal, but "recurrent gardnerella infection" suggests bacterial vaginosis. BV is overgrowth of mostly normal bacteria, including Gardnerella. The usual treatment is metronidazole (Flagyl®) by mouth. No other antibiotic is needed because of Ureaplasma. ...Read more

Cultures are very pricey and ureaplasma organisms are very difficult to grow. Urethrorragia causes mild stinging upon urination plus mildly bloody urine at the end of voiding. Normal bacteria: Ureaplasma is a normal bacteria in the genital tract. Everybody has it from time to time, and at any one time it's present in 50% of persons. It means nothing at all in regard to the sexual fidelity of your partner and doens't need treatment. (Why were you tested anyway? STD experts know there is no reason to test for Ureaplasma.)
