Usually a solitary nodule should be evaluated with needle biopsy or followed closely with ultrasound. ...Read more

A nodule: Hi. A non-toxic uninodular goiter means you have a nodule in the thyroid that is NOT autonomously over-producing thyroid hormone. There is a risk the nodule is a thyroid cancer, so your doctor will probably send you to an endocrinologist to get a fine needle aspiration biopsy. If the nodule is benign, you leave it alone; if it's cancer, you head down that path (most are benign). Good luck. ...Read more

Get thyroid labs: You most likely already have your thyroid levels checked. If not, you need to get thyroid labs drawn. From the uptake and scan above, your TSH should be low, which indicates hyperthyroidism. The treatment is 1)antithyroid drug, 2)i-131 ablation, 3)surgery. With itp, maybe hold off on surgery for now. Please discuss all of this with your doctor. Good luck. ...Read more

Maybe anti-tpo. Is the goiter nodular or smooth? This may require an ultrasound, with biopsy of any suspicious nodules. Is it really big and impair your swallowing/breathing? Then maybe surgery. Check with your doctor. ...Read more
