Treatments For Painful Lump On Achilles Tendon
Lump on Achilles tendon. Mri shows nothing but the lump is visable just looking at my foot. Drs r stumped! Very painful all the time. Any ideas?
It is odd: That nothing would show on the mri! was the MRI performed with and without contrast. Soft tissues are usually very well defined on an mri. Any type of mass or even swelling would normally show on the study.
An exam is needed!: There are a number of things. A painful lump on the tendon can range from a cyst to a calcification, or even the beginning of a rupture. There needs to be more info given. I will say that in view that it is on the achilles tendon (a very large tendon) and you are having pain, it needs to be looked at by a physician.See 2 more doctor answers
I have pain in my Achilles tendon. I can be standing still, driving or walking. What is causing this and how can I stop it? There is a small lump also
Piezogenic papules: "small lumps" could be due to a variety of skin or soft tissue conditions. One common cause is piezogenic pedal papules which are small white bumps that may form on the outside of the heel. These bumps are more prominent when pressure is exerted on the feet when standing. These papules are normally painless, however, in some cases mild to moderate pain may exist with added pressure to the heel.
I have a painless lump on my anterior tibialis ligament and my Achilles tendon on my left foot. No trauma. What could it be.
58y/o female- sore, warm to the touch, quarter sized lumps below her Achilles' tendon. Will call doc Monday if not gone, but could this be gout?
Is it possible? Yes: Does it sound like it? Not really. First off that's not really a joint area and gout usually affects joints. Without seeing the lumps it is hard to take a guess....I am it sure why hey would "disappear" by Monday.....if there is anyway you can show us a picture that would be helpful in us helping you.
I awaken with sharp burning pain in the posterior aspect of my ankle along my Achilles tendon for the past couple of months. Is there any home treatments that might help?
Surgery or nonop Tx: Achilles tendon tears are either treated with nonoperative immobilization in a cast or boot, or by surgery to repair the torn tendon followed by similar immobilization. Talk with your physician to decide together which treatment option is best for your individual circumstance. No one treatment is right for everyone.See 1 more doctor answer
Do I need to seek professional care for the pain in my Achilles tendon, or just home therapy and rest?
Depends: On how bad and how long have you had problem. If not severe, initially try rest ice/heat as well as supportive shoe gear. If this does not help, see podiatrist.See 2 more doctor answers
Conditioning: Gentle range of motion, scar mobilization, conditioning (calf strengthening), proprioception. Follow surgeons guidelines for how to progress.See 1 more doctor answer

Ankle MRI report - ant tib tendon bowing, tendonitis in ant tib, tenosynovitis in posterior tib, mild tendonitis in Achilles'. Best treatment?
Cold compresses help: I have found that tendinitis frequently responds to application of cold compresses, particularly gel devices kept in a freezer which when applied to tendinitis will cut the inflammation down and provide comfort without the potential side effects of listed medications (which help as well but can cause considerable side effects). Such gel devices can be found in drug stores (OTC).See 1 more doctor answer
Continue stretching.: See your physician to make sure no neurological problems are left untreated.See 1 more doctor answer
See below: The first thing would be to try stretching and casting. If this does not work then surgery may be required.See 1 more doctor answer
My knees & Achilles' tendons have hurt a lot lately and more recently my lower back has caused discomfort. Any advice (stretching, treatment, etc)?
Tear: Aanytime there is a bump that is tender in the achillles area consider a partial tear and you would be at hiogh riskk for acute complete tear. Stop doing any jumping running, or stressing the achilles and seek medical attention. A littl rest and treatment now will save six months of recovery later.See 1 more doctor answer
My achilles tendon is painful (even at rest), red scabby bump formed, difficulty walking or carrying anything a little heavy. Shin splits. Depressed.
Achilles pain: Rest and see an orthopedic doctor and take some antiinflammatories for starters.
A nurse said I have badly pulled/sprained my Achilles tendon. It is really painful to walk on, she hasn't given me any crutches? Help?
See a podiatrist: There could be a partial tear in the tendon or associated structures. I love our nurses, but you should see a doctor on this one.
8 wks P.O for tarsal tunnel. Recently between ankle&achilles tendon if slightly touched it is extremely painful dr told me to try heatbut what is it?
Varies: There are a number of reasons that a surgical area may be hypersensitive 8! weeks after surgery. It can be related to cutaneous nerves growing back in the area or sometimes the development of scar tissue. Heat increases blood flow to an area at the risk of increasing swelling. Cold can numb an area, but does little to decrease swelling if over 48 hrs post op and can decrease overall blood flow.See 1 more doctor answer
