My husband has Lyme disease he had a reoccurrence with nervousness and stiffness on doxycycline 100mg 7 days. Is that enough treatment?

Probably not but...: Acute lyme disease responds well to Doxycycline though lyme specialists advise 200 mg 2x/day for 30 days. If his recurrence is due to a new bite i advise that dose. Sometimes a patient may take an antidiarrheal or the illness itself causes a temporary 'bowel paralysis' so this needs to be evaluated for. A host of screening tests can help the doc make this diagnosis - so I suggest calling your primary MD and go to an E.R. ...Read more
