Treatment For Broken Pinky Toe
Broken pinky toe and can't walk on it. At all. And IV read that most people walk with their broken toes, just with a limp. Is this bad, or normal?
See doc, get X-ray: What you know is that your injured your pinky toe, but until you get an xray, you don't know if your broke the toe or any other part of the foot. This can include the long bone behind the pinky toe. You need to get your foot examined, see a foot and ankle specialist. The sooner you get it checked the quicker you can be treated and get back to full mobility. ...Read more
Pain, swelling: And bruising after some type of "whacking" to the toe. If it hurts to press on it and to bend it also, it probably is broken. As long as it is only in the toe and not in the foot, you can support it by wearing stiff soled shoes and taping it to the next toe. ...Read more

Not a good idea...: It sounds to me like you will just keep re-injuring it if you don't give it a chance to heal properly. The only thing to do is give it time - probably four weeks at least. ...Read more
How do I treat a cut that is under my pinky toe near the bending area? It seems to be just a cut but is painful while walking. Treatment suggestion
Keep clean: Clean with mild soap and water 2 times a day. Use Bacitracin (light coat) and a band-aid. A gauze bandage wrapped around it might cushion it. Wear shoes that hurt the least. If you have not had a tetanus shot in 10 years, get one. If you have redness, pus, increased pain, warmth, swelling call MD or go to UC asap. Stay off it as much as possible, of course. Tylenol (acetaminophen) for pain. ...Read more

I had a displaced fifth toe fracture 3 days ago reduced with buddy taping. I cant hang my foot down, results in severe pain. How should I walk?
Not my buddy: Since you mention displaced fracture and buddy taping, it sounds like it has already been examined, x-rayed and splinted by a pro. If not, do it. When a bone breaks blood to the bone increases, increasing the pressure. When you hang it down, the pressure increases more. That increases pain. Elevate it. The taping may be slowing the blood out of toe increasing pain. Adjust it. Use fx shoe, crutch. ...Read more
I had fifth toe fracture last week. Yesterday I noted a large bruise in the centre of foot extremely painful and is not letting me hang my foot/walk?
You hit your toe against something hard enough to break it. My guess is, you hit the rest of the foot hard also, but didn't notice it because the toe hurt so much. Now it's badly bruised.

Pesky little toes.: The little toe can be traumatized without you even knowing it. The position is such that cracking, thickness and color can have multiple reasons. Pinky toe feels weird when I don't move it. Feels puffy and big. And I have urge move my toes at rest. It's very annoying. It's fine when I'm walking?
Puffy toe injury: If your little toe is puffy and big, you may have injured it. The need to move it may be psychological since it probably feels better in motion. Try soaking the foot in warm water with Epsom salt to see if the puffiness improves. See a Podiatrist if the problem persists. Good luck. ...Read more

The bottom of my pinky toe keeps on splitting and it is really painful. The skin doesn't look painful. Why is this happening?
Buddy Tape: Usually for these types of fractures, unless they are displaced (your toe sticks out), we recommend "buddy taping" the toe to the next toe. Place a thin piece of cotton or gauze between the toes first. Fractures can take up to 6 weeks to heal and the toe may stay swollen for several months. If the toe is displaced you may need to see a foot specialist. Wear a stiff shoe (eg running shoe). ...Read more
