Should I be worried that a yellow jacket sting, one week later, is still red, swollen and very itchy?

Is it infected?: Yellow jackets scrounge garbage cans & picnic tables - there's always a worry that their stingers might be contaminated with germs. Stings will be red & swollen regardless of infection. If you're not sure have a physician take a look. ...Read more

My toe swelled up after a yellow jacket sting four days ago.Now the swelling is down but there are two blister-likebubbles. Should I pop them or leave?

Either way: If the blisters bother you they can be drained. If you use a sterile needle the blister can be drained by slowly sticking the blister(but not the skin) and letting the fluid out. Do not remove the top skin, it will peel off later. If they do not bother you they can be left alone and will eventually drain and dry up. ...Read more

My husbands foot is twice its normal size, white on top and red on sides and bottom, painful to walk on. Sting ws 3 days ago by yellow jacket.

Large site reaction.: It sounds as though your husband has a localized reaction to the venom released in to the tissue. At times the area can be larger than expected and in some cases can take a week to go away. Check the sting site for a stinger, wash the wound with soap and water and apply an ice pack.
