Been prescibed trimethoprim 300mg for e coli in urine. Suspected in vagina, offensive odour. Will antibiotics clear up vaginal e coli?
Not likely.: While anything is possible in medicine, even this, it is unlikely. The vagina has an acidic environment the kills most bacteria so the uterus does not get infected. Having said this, urinary tract infections from e.Coli can result from sexual activity, and moreover, venereal diseases, like chlamydia certainly can get to the womb and cause pelvic iflammatory disease, and infect the baby. ...Read more
Unpleasant feeling in urethra. Sti checks via pcr negative. semen sample positive enterococcus faecalis. not found in urine Can this cause urethritis?
Suggests contamination with urogenital or skin flora.
>100,000 CFU/ml Lactobacillus species.
20,000 CFU/ml mixed gram positive flora.
What's it mean?

Aerobic semen culture showed enterococcus. Anaerobic culture was clear of bacteria. Does it mean an enterococcus species easier to be treated?
No: Aerobic means it grows in oxygen. Anaerobic means the bacteria grow in the absence of oxygen. Whether bacteria are aerobic or anaerobic does not determine how hard those bacteria are to treat. That is determined by whether we have readily available antibiotics capable of killing them. ...Read more

Two things: 1:She needs to see her doctor about klebsiella. 2: She is not a "diabetic' - she has "diabetes". Her goal should be to gradually rid herself of diabetes. She must have a dietitian see her and slowly teach her how to rid herself of diabetes. Yes, it can and should happen - not overnight but within the next year.
