Is there a such thing as medical marijuana? If so which doctor prescribes? What affect does long term marijuana do to the body?
Not in Texas: If you decide this is for you, don't expect any physician in Texas would risk his/her license to prescribe it for you. Move to Colorado or another permissive state and you can find out what their restrictions are.See 2 more doctor answers
I have vulvodynia and someone suggested medical marijuana because I'm taking gabapentin and it's not helping. Would that be a better option?
Marijuana: I see that you're in georgia, where marijuana is not legal. "medical" marijuana would be problematic for you in that case. If your current medications are not helping your vulvodynia, you need to tell your doctor and work towards something that provides relief. Please discuss your ideas with your physician so that you can have a full conversation about them.

Local issue: In most of the country this is still illegal and a doc could lose their license by providing you access to it. However, there are some states that ignore the federal law & have liberal access programs. The rules are made within each area, so you must look into this locally. For some, they could get access with a stubbed toe.
