What to do if I had 50 mg of trazodone two days ago and am still feeling the effects. How long does it take to wear off?

That is my short ans: 50 mgm trazadone, 48 hours later you still have the effects. You probably went to see an md with some complaints, which included sleep disturbance. He gave you trazadone and you sort of sleeping since then. Time for total truth. What else are you taking. ..

Might consuming a beer or alcohol help with withdrawal from trazodone?

Might consuming a beer or alcohol help with withdrawal from trazodone?

See a doctor: I am hoping that you just attempting to describe a withdrawal phenomenon that involves mainly insomnia. In this case, I would recommend talking to a physician either in a clinic or emergency department about your situation. And consider melatonin or an antihistamine for sleep if they ok it. Alcohol for sleep is usually a slippery slope to worse problems and so it is best to get medical help.

Does trazodone not work for geodon (ziprasidone) withdrawal insomnia?

Does trazodone not work for geodon (ziprasidone) withdrawal insomnia?

I have used it: Successfully for this, but if you have restless legs or periodic limb movements of sleep it may actually worsen rather than improve the situation. Trazodone dose also has to be high enough to correct the insomnia, somewhere between 50-200 mg at bedtime or more. Best wishes.

Due to antipsychotics withdrawal I can't sleep. If take hydroxyzine benadryl & trazodone temporarily will my sleep patterns return & need no more meds?

Due to antipsychotics withdrawal I can't sleep. If take hydroxyzine benadryl & trazodone temporarily will my sleep patterns return & need no more meds?

That's too much.: I wouldn't think it prudent to pummel yourself to sleep with all of that. If anything, maybe just 25mg of Benadryl nightly. Although it would be better in the long run if you didn't take anything - would be a lousy few days but in the end your sleep would be more natural and spontaneous.

I think someone is mind controlling me so I can't sleep or is this a symptom of med withdrawal like geodon, (ziprasidone) trazodone, ativan. Mind control?

Mind Control: It is possibly a withdrawal symptom but not necessarily. Please contact your prescribing doctor immediately to learn what is causing your thinking to be distorted. I wish you the best.

Depression: Probably this is not "withdrawal" or a "discontinuation syndrome." This is more likely depressive symptoms emerging after having been partially treated by the trazodone. Discuss with your prescriber the possibility of more effective treatment for your depression.

My dr is just stopping 150 trazadone (ineffective for sleep) will I have withdrawals?

My dr is just stopping 150 trazadone (ineffective for sleep) will I have withdrawals?

Unlikely: Trazodone is used for sleep in 50-100 mg dose as needed. If you been on 150 mg daily for while some withdraw symptoms may happen id stopped abruptly. Consider lower dose " tapper off " for next few days (50 mg / day). Discuss w your MD. Other option snd sleep hygiene, sleep study.

Can low dose trazadone help to reduce benzodiazepine use and withdrawal?

Yes: trazodone is definitely a better alternative for sleep. Chronic use of benzos leads to tolerance and rebound insomnia. Just make sure you taper and do not stop benzo abruptly and consult with prescribing doc. If you are a resident of CA I would be happy to provide a virtual consult. If not consider a virtual consult with a Healthtap psychiatrist who is licensed in your state

How long does trazodone stay in your body?

How long does trazodone stay in your body?

75 hours.: Trazodoone is metabolized in two phases. The total half life is approximately 15 hours. The medication should be out of your system in a little over three days.

How long does trazodone stay in your system?

How long does trazodone stay in your system?

5: 5 half lives, (elimination of trazodone is biphasic though) which is between 3 to 6 hours. This data does not correlate at all with duration of the desired effect (i assume, as a sleep agent). Ask your dr to understand how this apply to your particular case.

How long will 50mg of trazodone stay in your system?

Not long: Trazodone has a biphasic half-life but both phases are short (3-6 & 5-9 hours). The rule of thumb is that your body is "cleaned out" after 5 half-lives, so 5x7 = 35 hrs. A day & a half after you've taken 1 dose of trazodone, only 3% will remain in your body.
