Might consider: Trazadone may be useful for sleeping if taken at bedtime, and a good night's rest may help alleviate tension. However, not perhaps the best direct choice for anxiety, as other drugs may provide far more potent benefit in this regard (such as alprazolam, various beta blockers, misc sedative tranquilizers). Trazodone and sleep: Your doctor need to increase dose till you can sleep 7-8h/night. There is no one-dose-fit-all. Needs to combine it with another anti-anxiety which usually is also an anti depressant. Not exist OTC for anxiety as OTC only treat symptoms and gives false feeling of safety while disease rages on, being untreated. Always treat the root cause of problem. Depression: Probably this is not "withdrawal" or a "discontinuation syndrome." This is more likely depressive symptoms emerging after having been partially treated by the trazodone. Discuss with your prescriber the possibility of more effective treatment for your depression. ...Read more

Talk to doctor: You're also taking Brintellix, an antidepressant which can interact with Trazodone to boost serotonin in the brain. Meds and whatever you're calling a "manic episode" should be reviewed with prescribing doctor. Please don't make any changes on your own. GAD: Please do not change your medications w/out the guidance of your doctor. Choose one, perhaps your primary care doctor, since he/she looks at your overall health picture. Not likely: Paxil (paroxetine) is more known 4 weight gain side-effect. None of the medications u r taking is known 2 decrease appetite & result in weight loss. U need to have a medical check-up with lab studies to make sure u do not have an underlying undiagnosed medical condition that would be causing ur weight loss. Traz: May consider a different nighttime medication. There are a few medications that help with nightmares assoc with ptsd but usually I do not recommend adding a medication to manage the side effects of another medication. ...Read more
