Can someone overdose quickly on tranxene (clorazepate)?

Yes, but not quickly: Like any medication in its group, it is lethal in overdose. The problem with tranxene (clorazepate) is that people do not feel affected by it right away, and can continue taking more and more in quick succession. After a few hours, however, they realize that they are too sedated, but cannot quickly get it out of their body. ...Read more

Although respirations and blood pressure are reduced then, it typically is only lethal when overdosed in combination with something -- especially alcohol. ...Read more

Does tranxene (clorazepate) work?

Does tranxene (clorazepate) work?

Yes: Tranxene belongs to the same group as xanax, (alprazolam) ativan, etc. It is, however, very long-acting: it starts slowly, but stays in the body for a long time. People who get used to short acting drugs expect tranxene to work quickly, so might think it doesn't work. The equivalent dose is also important. It works great for anxiety or alcohol/benzo withdrawal. ...Read more

Does tranxene (clorazepate) work right?

Sure: I hope your question was, "does tranxetne work. Right?"
this medication belongs to the same family as Xanax (alprazolam), (alprazolam) Valium, etc. it is doing practically the same. It is just much longer acting and much slower to start acting. Because of this, people experienced with more immediately working medications do not feel it is working. Give it time. Do not expect to feel the same as Xanax (alprazolam). ...Read more

I was prescribed tranxene (clorazepate) 7.5 mg po at bedtime, but I only have tranxene (clorazepate) 3.75 mg tablets. How many tablets do I need to take?

Two, but talk to do: Obviously 3.75 +3.75=7.5 so the answer would be two. However there may have been a breakdown in communication between you and your doctor which led you to be in this situation when you don't know how your doctor wanted you to take your meds. It is also a good idea to talk with the doctor who prescribed the meds to be certain how he or she wanted you to take them. ...Read more

Nothing is safe when: 'transferring' from one anti anxiety medication to another. You can't do it without a narcotic prescription from your doctor or psychiatrist. So if your Tranxene (clorazepate) isn't working, call your doctor and take their recommendation first. You may need to be seen for a consult, before anything is switched. May be better to deal with the cause of your anxiety as a better alternative. Good luck! ...Read more

Clarification: Just to clarify - It sounds like you are only taking the Klonopin (clonazepam) currently? You can titrate off of Klonopin (clonazepam) by decreasing dose to 0.25 mg every 12 hours x 7 days then 0.25 mg. at night only x 5 days, then discontinue. This method works very well for my pts. and avoids the unpleasant side effects. You can be more aggressive, but I find greater success occurs with the slow method. Hope that helps! ...Read more

I have very bad anxiety attacks and i am on xanax (alprazolam) cause i need quik relief does tranxene have the same effect acting quikly to relieve me?

Anxiety is best: treated with cognitive behavior therapy, clinical hypnosis, practice of the Relaxation Response (see book of the same name by Benson). Medication may play a role but don't rely on that alone. Behavioral techniques taught by a clinical psychologist are long-lasting and will help in other areas beyond the present-day stressors. Is it safe or unsafe to take adderral and/or tranzene when i'm taking st. John's wort?

Is it safe or unsafe to take adderral and/or tranzene when i'm taking st. John's wort?

Question About Need: Chemically you are not likely to have a reaction from taking these together. However, i would question the use of Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) and tranxene together. One of the more common side effects of Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) is a feeling of jitteriness or anxiety. If you are already taking tranxene for anxiety, there is a possibility of taking medicines that could cause competing effects. You need to discuss with you physician. ...Read more
