What is transverse lie?

What is transverse lie?

Unstable position.: Fetuses tend to have longitudinal lies in pregnancy - be they cephalic or breech. Transverse lies are less common and involve the fetus with its spine axis perpendicular to the mother's spine axis (head to right or left, spine up or down). If persistent, transverse lies need cesarean section for delivery, unless external cephalic version [with epidural and terbutaline under real-time u/s] works. ...Read more

I have a transverse lie at 35 weeks, and the baby won't move with exercises that my midwife has recommended. Your thoughts?

I have a transverse lie at 35 weeks, and the baby won't move with exercises that my midwife has recommended. Your thoughts?

Version: If malpresentation persists at 37 weeks, an external version may be attempted where the provider places hands on the abdomen and attempts to guide the baby into the proper position. There can be complications, so this should be done in a hospital with fetal monitoring and the ability to perform a csection if necessary. ...Read more

What kind of incision for delivery of singleton in transverse lie with anterior placenta previa? Will low transverse cut risk hemorrhage/uterine tear?

What kind of incision for delivery of singleton in transverse lie with anterior placenta previa? Will low transverse cut risk hemorrhage/uterine tear?

Hyst'omy MANDATED: Hello Annie-_777
I am not an OB GYN but I have had a lot of experience which tells me that a lower abdominal incision (Pfannen-Stiel) is a better incision in almost all situations. This situation of a transverse lie and an anterior placenta praevia is a very hazardous situation because you need the baby out and the cord clamped within seconds of opening the uterus so choose a very skilled surgeon. ...Read more

Children age 6 to 10 years old who lie should we tell them they lie stop lying?

Children age 6 to 10 years old who lie should we tell them they lie stop lying?

Varies some: Kids change from a fantasy based brain to a more realistic one around 8, give or take & the imaginary friends & tooth fairy give way to questions about how things work. When this transition occurs, they are mature enough to understand reasoning & consequences based on reasons rather than just rules. They are also capable of planned manipulative behavior at that point where before it may just happen. ...Read more

Can children use Clobex?

Can children use Clobex?

Clobex/children: It is safe to use in kids 12 and older. Under age 12, it is a pretty hefty steroid to use for a kid. It is a steroid, and a fairly potent one at that. Kids can absorb it through their skin and it can then affect them as if they ingested it. I would use a lower potency steroid on a kid under 12, although there are occasions when a stronger one is needed - close monitoring is then needed as well ...Read more

Can children use Halonate?

Can children use Halonate?

Not Recommended: Greetings. I would not recommend the use of Halonate on a child if it was not prescribed by a Dermatologist. Because it is categorized as a "super high potency" topical steriod, it can have serious side effects when used incorrectly. High potency creams and ointments can be asorbed easily through the skin and cause malfunction to certain organs. Best regards. ...Read more

Can children use Triesence?

Can children use Triesence?

Specialist decision: Triesence is an injectable steroid into your eye to treat inflammation when steroid eye drops are not helpful. Use on a child would need to be monitored closely and be administered by an eye specialist with experience using this medication. It is not something I typically see in my practice so I suspect your child has a unique health challenge. Good luck!
