Is it possible to measure close to 3 weeks behind on transvaginal ultrasound? U/s showed fetal pole measuring 6 weeks w/ no heartbeat yet.

Transvaginal USG: Transvaginal ultrasound is most accurate duringvthe first trimester by 5-7 days. If >than 1 week off then your dating may be off because of ovulation etc. your period also plays a role in this. If your cycles are irregular then ultrasound dates may be off. Would considerva repest ultasound in a week to evaluate and see if pregnancy is progressing. Good luck. ...Read more

What's the earliest you will see a heartbeat with a transvaginal ultrasound?

What's the earliest you will see a heartbeat with a transvaginal ultrasound?

Depends: Depends on how much time the examiner is willing to spend looking. By 6.5 weeks the fetal heartbeat (fh) is fairly obvious. Not easy or quick! ...Read more

Sometimes it can be seen sooner or sometimes the baby's position and other factors keep us from seeing it even when you are at the right gestational age. The heart rate is not a good predictor of the baby's gender. ...Read more

I went and had transvaginal ultrasound 1 day before 6 wks. Saw sac but no fetal pole or embryo. Said there is debris and they think i'll miscarry.

Only time will tell: Unfortunately, there is nothing anyone can do at this early state. Lack of a fetal pole at 6 weeks is not a good sign. Serial measurements of the pregnancy hormone HCG may be useful to confirm unless "menses" starts, which would also verify miscarriage. ...Read more

Gestational sac and tiny fetal pole seen on transvaginal ultrasound at 5w3d. However, no mention of the yolk sac. Note said early or abnormal preg. ?

Hard to say: It is normal to see a yolk sac at 5 1/2 weeks but often one does not see a fetal pole by then. I would not be concerned yet. I presume your doc plans to recheck this is in a week and he/she will have a better idea then. ...Read more
