Deep sea fishing: use transderm scop (scopolamine) or dramamine?

I prefer scop patch: I find that transderm scop (scopolamine) is both well tolerated and effective. Perhaps even better is half a scop patch, but if you do this, carefully wash your hands after cutting / applying to keep the scopolamine off your fingers & out of your eyes. Another prescription favorite is zofran (ondansetron) which is quite effective for nausea. ...Read more

Actiq and morphine patches help?

Actiq and morphine patches help?

No & Maybe: Actiq shouldn't be used for non-cancer pain. Tolerance develops rapidly because of the rapid, intense effect. This results in the need for higher and higher doses over a very short time. This med is most appropriate for patients not expected to survive for more than several months as the med becomes less effective rapidly. Fentanyl patches may be more appropriate. See a pain specialist. ...Read more

Do Duragesic (fentanyl) pain patches work well? Are they safe?

Can work well: Yes Duragesic patches can work well. It depends on what dosage you are prescribed. One problem with the patch is building up a tolerance to continuous 72 hour pain patch. Any narcotic can lead to respiratory depression, stop breathing which can lead to cardiac arrest. If you drink alcohol, take Valium or xanax, (alprazolam) muscle relaxants, antidepressants, amphetamines, can increase risk of respiratory arre. ...Read more

How long after expiration are habitrol (nicotine patch) patches good?

How long after expiration are habitrol (nicotine patch) patches good?

Not effective: Medicine or patches do not necessarily go bad in general but the reason the fda puts an expiration date is to make you aware of the potency of the medication/treatment. After the expiration date, the medicine is less effective and possibly not work at all. I would find a way to get a patch that is not expired to receive the maximum effect. ...Read more

R dialated pupil for 6 days. Poss side effect of transderm scop (scopolamine) patch, risks with it being dialated this long? How get back! HELP!

Scopolamine SEs: this medication can certainly cause a dilated pupil on the side of use. Generally the patch is worn for 3 days - so I wonder how long you've had it on? Also if u touch the gluey surface of the patch, then rub your eye you can dilate the pupil that way by getting the medicine directly in your eye. If no patch is being used now & pupil still dilated, u should see an eye doc today. Hope u feel better ...Read more
