I spit up a traces of blood, not in mucous more in phelgm on and off for 3 weeks.. I am seeing a Doctor but any suggestions what i may be experiencing?
Clarification: Are you coughing up blood ? Are you spitting blood ? Is it one time ? One day ? Do you spit blood after brushing your teeth ? Do you have soar throat ? Do you cough ? All those have different implications. If you have spit blood only couple of time and then it stopped , probably it is nothing to worry . Where is it from: You should figure out if the blood in your spit is from your mouth including gums, from your upper airway (i.e. Nose) or from your throat or if you are producing sputum from your lungs that has blood in it. If coming from your mouth or nose and you can identify where it is coming from (a sore, dry nose, etc) then you will want to find out how to stop it. Coughing or spitting: If coughing that implies it is coming from lungs due to bronchitis, TB or even a tumor. If spitting it implies it is coming from GI tract. To whom?: Spitting blood is never good. This requires a full detailed evaluation to determine the source of the bleeding.
