Tough one!: There is an ileorectal anastomosis - when the colon is removed we can attach the ileum - part of the end of the small intestine - to the rectum. There is also an ileosigmoid anastomosis - when the ileum is attached to the sigmoid colon. Often the area is called the rectosigmoid region so this leads to the confusion.
