Torn Tendon In Elbow Symptoms
I have a torn tendon on the bottom of my elbow plus cartilage and ligament damage which is very painful. How is it ever going to get better?
Surgery: Most tendon ruptures require surgical repair because of the deformity that occurs within the tendon structure just prior its failure ie. Rupture. It's called plastic deformation and the tendon changes are not reversible. Ultimate tensile failure is the term for tendon rupture when the forces exceed the strength of the tendon fibers. ...Read more
Are there any risks[ie tendon rupture] for having steriod injection for conditions like tennis elbow? Thanks
Out of cast after 4 weeks (long arm) muscles in forearm tight n painful n numbness in thumb normal post cast? I had epychondolitis n torn tendon
Can be expected --:
Stiffness from being in a cast for 4 weeks. Numbness maybe from cast being too tight or the cotton padding may have bunched up causing a local neuritis, which should clear up in 2-3 weeks time. As you exercise the tight muscles should loosen up and get stronger, reducing the stiffness as well.
Massage/stretching exercises would help the epicondylitis. The doc should advise re: the torn tendon! ...Read more
3wks into 6wk casting for partially torn tendon in elbow been on ibuprofen for 3 months is it ok to still take it or should I look at other pain relief?
Tennis elbow: Sounds surgery for tennis elbow. I am sorry to hear that you didn't get better. I used to operate on tennis elbow after 6 weeks of failed conservative treatment. Now I wait for at least 12-18 months. Reason is, most get better with time. Mri often suggests "torn tendon" but surgery is rarely needed. Diagnosis can be incorrect, since other conditions can cause same symptoms. Get 2nd opinion. ...Read more

I had right lateral epicondylar release/tendon repair 4 months ago. A p.T. Asked which tendon did u get repaired? How many tendons on the outer elbow?
ECRB: Lateral epicondylitis ("tennis elbow")surgery involves surgical debridement (open or arthroscopic) of the extensor carpi radialis brevis (ecrb) tendon origin. Degenerative tendon here often has a 'fish flesh' appearance. Surgeons often 'drill' small holes in the lat. Epicondyle after debridement. Other tendons here: ecrl, epl, edc tendons (abbreviations). ...Read more

Bad injury 2-3 weeks ago. Still cannot rotate arm palm down to palm up. Not that it hurts I just can't. Was diagnosed as elbow fx. Could this be tendon?
Maybe, but: Since you were diagnosed with a fracture, that certainly may be affecting your range of motion. Your dr should be following up with you to assure you are progressing normally. Orthopedics may be needed to assess your fracture care and physical therapy and rehab may be beneficial for improving range of motion. A physical exam would be able to help diagnose a possible tendon issue as well. Gd luck. ...Read more

High grade partial tear in the ucl and common flexor tendon of the elbow what does this mean and what is the usual treatment?
See below: The ulnar collateral ligament (ucl) is a structure that helps stabilize the elbow on the inside. The common flexor tendon sits right over the top of the ucl. The two structures are often injured together. High grade partial tear means mostly torn but a few intact fibers. Treatment options depend on many factors and range from pt to surgery. Only orthopedist can decide which option is best. ...Read more

"tennis" elbow...: …especially if it hurts to turn her hand over against force like opening a door or picking up a frying pain. If it hurts in the other direction, it's "golfer's" elbow. You don't have to play these sports to get a sore elbow. You just have to strain your forearm tendons because they are anchored on your elbow. Try Ice, Ibuprofen, a tennis elbow band. See MD if not gone in 3 weeks or red/swollen ...Read more

Arthritis possible: A Dr can assess you by asking a lot more detail about the time course + pattern of joints involved, examining you and maybe sending some blood tests & doing x-rays. The fact that you have a number of different joints affected suggests you do have an inflammatory process occurring but the pattern (knees, elbows + fingers) is not 100% typical for any particular kind of arthritis. Hey my right inner side (Palm up, side my pinkie is on) elbow hurts when I extend my arm. It feels like it's inside like a tendon but only hurts elbow?
Hello! If I rest my elbow on the table for a couple of minutes then try to straighten it I feel a pain. Tendonitus, tear ligament, tendon, sprain?
Probably tendon: It's hard to say the exact cause, however pain that is present after prolonged rest is usually muscle or tendon related. As there are numerous muscles and tendons that cross the elbow joint, it is most likely that. However, other sources of pain should be ruled out by your doctor. ...Read more
