I have a torn bicep muscle in my right hand for the last 2 year's can this be operated and can my arm be normal as before? What are the risks?

Depends: Depends on if it's distal or proximal. If distal, and the laceratus fibrosis is still intact, there is a remote chance that it may work, but likely not. If it's complete with torn laceratus with retraction, you can tenodese (tie down the tendon) to the brachialis muscle, but this is purely cosmetic and essentially 50/50 chance that will work. ...Read more

Can a torn rotator cuff muscle result in aching in the shoulder and arm without any real restrictions in movement?

Can a torn rotator cuff muscle result in aching in the shoulder and arm without any real restrictions in movement?

Not likely: A torn rotator cuff can definitely cause pain in the shoulder and arm, but the vast majority of the time the pain will be worse with motions like lifting your head over your arm or reaching behind your back. If you have absolutely no increased pain when you move your arm, it does bring the diagnosis into question. A pinched nerve in the neck can cause shoulder that is not worse with motion. ...Read more

Out of cast after 4 weeks(long arm) muscles in forearm tight n painful n numbness in thumb normal post cast? I had epychondolitis n torn tendon

Can be expected --: Stiffness from being in a cast for 4 weeks. Numbness maybe from cast being too tight or the cotton padding may have bunched up causing a local neuritis, which should clear up in 2-3 weeks time. As you exercise the tight muscles should loosen up and get stronger, reducing the stiffness as well. Massage/stretching exercises would help the epicondylitis. The doc should advise re: the torn tendon! ...Read more

What could be causing this pang in the nerve if the emg test says the nerve is good and where do I go from here? My forearm was cut by a chainsaw 6.5 months ago.
The emergency room stitched together the torn muscles and skin. The ER dr said it went throu

I;m : I;m sorry to hear about your accident. It is a good thing that your ulnar nerve is working. The bad thing is that a soft tissue injury does more than affect nerves. A nerve often grows back with part of it curling into itself forming a nerve bunch called a neuroma. These can be very sensitive especially if you tap on them. Sometimes a steeroid shot helps. The problems you are having a more likely to be related to tugging on tendons and fascia (gristle) within the muscles of your forearm. You should see the hand specialist again and have him or her spell out the kind of therapy you need for your muscle damage. In the meantime work the arm yourself in warm water to help keep it as flexible as possible while it heals. ...Read more
