Bipolar disorder: Bipolar disorder is often helped by lithium, which is a mood-stabilizing medication. Sometimes depression is severe enough despite this that an antidepressant like wellbutrin (bupropion) is added -- but not without the mood stabilizer. If prescribed by your psychiatrist and you are followed regularly, the combination may help your mood, wellbutrin (bupropion) is not an anti-anxiety medication, though. ...Read more

Im on Zoloft and Buspar (buspirone) and Risperdal for deeprassnt can Risperdal bi replace to remeron? For insomnia and anxiety and deeprassnt? ??
Different rationale.: The Buspar (buspirone) is often used for anxiety but it may take time for it to work. Zoloft is an antidepressant of the SSRI class , Risperdal is an antipsychotic but is used in small doses for severe anxiety. Remeron is an atypical antidepressant and is used more to stimulate appetite or improve your sleep. Please discuss this with your doctor. He has specific reasons for the use of each drug. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Possibly: Citalopram and Buspirone are both described as being effective for anxiety. The magnitude of the difference between their effects is likely small if studied formally in a research setting although my experience with both is that i would predict someone would experience more comprehensive reduction in the severity of their anxiety and panic attacks in the context of citalopram treatment. ...Read more
Reasonable combo: Cymbalta (duloxetine) is a SNRI for depression, anxiety and pain and Risperdal is a med that helps with agitation, paranoia. A low dose of Risperdal added to antidepressants can boost the antidepressant effects esp as it helps anxiety/agitation. Additional side effects are possible but can be monitored by prescriber. All patients on these meds should be regularly monitored. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Antidepressants do not typically cause hallucinations either. If the is some connection then the diagnosis may need to be reconsider like possibly bipolar disorder. Hi, I am taking celexa 20 mg for depression and anxiety and klonopin (clonazepam) for anxiety and panic. Could I replace the klonopin (clonazepam) with amitriptyline safely?
Not enough info: Switching medications requires knowledge of your entire clinical situation. You need to discuss with prescribing doctor reason for changing any med and how to do so. Also you must be seen and carefully monitored for symptoms and side effects. I hope this helps. ...Read more
I just got prescribed medication to deal with my depression anxiety and anger. Is 50mg of topamax daily and 5 mg of Abilify (aripiprazole) safe?
Alternative: These meds. have the possibility of interacting with each other (although this can be minimized by starting with a low dose). That said, there are safer alternatives. Personally, I tend to try Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) + Wellbutrin XL for patients who aren't doing well on an SSRI alone. But this is a matter of prescriber preference and what your physician feels is the most appropriate for you. Hope that helps! ...Read more
