I have hallux limitus. One doc recommends midfoot fusion to lower the first metatarsal more than a modified youngswick can. Is this a good idea?
Without an exam, I ask myself if an isolated 1st metatarsal/1st cuneiform fusion is better than a whole midfoot fusion. But, if you really need plantarflexion, the Lambrinudi plantarflexory osteotomy may work.
It avoids a fusion. It's performed at the 1st metatarsal base. Good luck.
