Menstrual: Irregularity is quite common. Even though the IUD was removed, you should have had some form of withdrawal bleed or menses. You may be irregular this month. If pregnancy tests are negative...fine. If you don't get your period in a week...see your GYN for a serum bHcG. If negative...may need to get your thyroid checked out....stress can also cause menstrual irregularity. ...Read more

While on mirena (levonorgestrel) and period stops all together, is it a gradual stop, or does it just randomly not come one month and no more period?

While on mirena (levonorgestrel) and period stops all together, is it a gradual stop, or does it just randomly not come one month and no more period?

It varies: Mirena (levonorgestrel) can stop your menses, but that's not guaranteed. It can alter your menses (ie. Having light spotting in between). You won't know until after having it for 6 months. Most women I've known who get it, like it a lot and feel that the unpredictable transition period is worth it. See for more information: http://www.Mirena (levonorgestrel)-us. If I had two periods in one month, when can I expect my next period? P.S. I have removed mirena (levonorgestrel) 6 months ago.

Hard to say: A normal menstrual cycle (from the first day of one period to the next period) lasts 21 to 35 days. It is normal to bleed for up to seven days. Bleeding in between the two periods is considered abnormal. But if you have short cycles, it is entirely possible to have 2 periods over the course of a calendar month. If you are having abnormal, excess bleeding, you should see your gyn doc. ...Read more

Is it possible to have your period a few within a few days of having mirena (levonorgestrel) removed after not having one while being on it?

Yes, possible: If you were having monthly periods while the Mirena (levonorgestrel) was in place, and it was 'due' to start, then certainly; if the periods had stopped due to the progestin in the Mirena (levonorgestrel) it would usually take a few weeks for enough estrogen to generate/thicken the endometrial lining; then ovulation would need to occur and trigger a period (if conception doesn't occur). It is common to have some irregular bleedi. ...Read more

I had 2 mirena (levonorgestrel) IUDs for a total of 10 years. I had the last one removed about 9 months ago. Last 2 months period has been on only spotting when I wipe?

I think it would be: Very unlikely that any menstrual irregularity you are experiencing now would be related to the Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD that was removed 9 months ago. Are you now using another form of contraception? Is there any possibility you could be pregnant? One of the first things I would do is check a pregnancy test. If negative, and no other symptoms, perhaps wait another month, and then contact your doctor. ...Read more
