Severe infection: Tonsils can become severely infected and may fail to respond totally to even anti-biotic therapy - that's why so many people have to have them removed. I hope you did not self-prescribe the Amoxicillin - it's not a good idea to do that and could make your health problems into the future harder to treat. See a doctor to get that last bit taken care of. ...Read more

I was diagnosed with tonsillitis. Its been almost a year & my tonsils are still swollen with ulcers. Also, several lypth nodes on my neck are swolllen?

Chronic Tonsillitis: You must have developed an initial severe episode of tonsillitis with resistant bacteria. Sometimes, there can be a chronic low-grade infection within the tonsils that never fully resolves. This can lead to the chronic swelling and irritation of your tonsils. The lymph nodes drain the tonsillar area and are reacting to the chronic infection. You should see an ENT doctor and discuss tonsillectomy. ...Read more

Is it possible for a tonsillitis to move to the left side from a swollen right side after medicating? I don't feel anything on my right, it moved.

Not exactly moving: Tonsils resides on both sides and infections generally involve both. The level of symptoms varies with symptoms and where along the progress of the infection you are. The progress of symptoms during the first 12-24 hours of treatment are mostly predetermined by where you, or each tonsil separately, is on the time/severity timeline. Either way you should be better in 3-5 days or see your doctor. ...Read more

I have white lines on my tonsils and I touched it a lil and it bleed a bit. I get tonsillitis 2xs a year is that related? My tonsils are swollen too

Watchful waiting.: If you don't have a fever, don't have enlarged lymph nodes on the side of the neck, and you're otherwise feeling okay, you can probably wait a few days before seeing the doctor. The white lines could be pus... But not necessarily. Sometimes plain 'ole mucus can look like whitish lines on the tonsils. I would try gargling with warm salt water and some Ibuprofen for a few days, then see doc. ...Read more
