Tonsillitis On One Side
Yes: The bacteria is likely all over your throat but you may only have one tonsil that has significant swelling. However, if one side is markedly swollen to the point that it is causing the uvula to be pulled to one side that could be a serious condition called a peri-tonsilar abscess. That can impact the airway and merits emergency care. ...Read more
Hi I'm on antibiotics for tonsillitis but on one side only n have pain cos of pain in lump on neck I'm worried might be cancer?
I have a quick question is it a serious matter if you have tonsillitis but one of your tonsils (left side) has inverted inwards it also has redness?
My tonsils are red and puffy and there is a medium/big white bump on one side and it's very painful and I have a bad earache as well. Is it tonsillitis?
Tonsillitis: This is a generic term, meaning inflammation of the tonsils. So, the answer to your question is "yes" you have it. Whether it is viral or bacterial is the issue. If it has been developing for 7-10 days, there is purulent drainage from the tonsils, fever, and soft palate petechiae (red spots), then it is bacterial. Sometimes, it is not as clear cut. See MD for evaluation. ...Read more

Tonsilitis: Cancer in this area at your age is extremely rare and unusual, particularly if this is an acute illness. More than likely this infection, if responding to antibiotics at all, is curing the infection, but the inflammatory process takes a longer time to recede. Hope you are better soon. Cancer would not be likely. ...Read more

Tonsil on one side is red, slightly swollen and painful when swallowing, could this be tonsilitis? Also felt very tired, cold and painful muscles
May need strep test: Sore throat and tonsillitis symptoms usually are evaluated by a rapid strep test in addition to an exam. If there are strep germs, antibiotics such as Amoxil (amoxicillin) or Zithromax are needed. Sometimes tonsils get whitish mucousy stuff on them. Other possible causes of throat symptoms include allergens, viruses, other irritants, etc... ...Read more
I just had my tonsillitis cured on ther right side. I feel like there's something like it on the left side. Is it possible to transfer or have again?
Could but doubt: Once you're treated for any tonsilar infection, the meds would essentially treat both sides. You can always get another infection, and it may just affect the other side this time, especially if close contacts are transmitting the infection to you if they were never treated, etc. ...Read more

Asymmetric tonsils: Asymmetry in tonsils can occur without clinical importance but rarely can be a result of neoplastic process. The difference in size should be evaluated and perhaps followed for a period of time by a specialist. Sometimes a biopsy may be obtained. A changing asymmetry should not be ignored. ...Read more
Is it possible for a tonsillitis to move to the left side from a swollen right side after medicating? I don't feel anything on my right, it moved.
Not exactly moving: Tonsils resides on both sides and infections generally involve both. The level of symptoms varies with symptoms and where along the progress of the infection you are. The progress of symptoms during the first 12-24 hours of treatment are mostly predetermined by where you, or each tonsil separately, is on the time/severity timeline. Either way you should be better in 3-5 days or see your doctor. ...Read more

Diagnosis: If you have a bacterial tonsillitis which can only be documented by a throat culture, then Augmentin is the drug of choice if you are not allergic to penicillin. Most common risk is: Bleeding. It can occur up to two or more weeks after surgery.
