I have black spots on my scalp where my hair has thin and 2 spost on my face as well as on my ear. It's not acne or blemish. They scab up. What is is?
Black skin spots: Without a picture, it is hard to say. These could be many things, including benign nevus, seborrheic keratosis, or solar lentigos (due to sun exposure), to name a few. These do not usually scab up unless irritated/scratched. Basal cell carcinoma (a low grade type of skin cancer) can be pigmented. Are dark grey/ redish blackish spots on one tonsil bed (after a tonsillectomy) a sign of healing or an infection?
Healing: Infections in a post op tonsillar bed are pretty rare, usually I put my patients on antibiotics after the surgery anyway. The reddish black dots are the residual effects of cauterization and granulation tissue together. Eventually they will turn back to the normal color of the oral cavity. ...Read more

I had a tonsillectomy 6 days ago. Today I just threw up, blood and all but it stoped instantly. Later I noticed a black scab, is it normal?
Post op tonsil: Greetings. It is common to see some bleeding after a tonsillectomy. The amount of bleeding and frequency needs to be relayed to your surgeon. If you were my patient, with this brief history, I would suggest just observation. The dark scab is just that a scab that is covering a healing wound. Have it rechecked with your surgeon to be sure. That is my policy, recheck after bleeding in post op pd. ...Read more

I am 8 days post tonsillectomy & still in severe pain. My scabs do not appear to have fallen off but there is lots of redness. Should I be concerned?
Not really: Post tonsillectomy patients just begin to experience improvement after a week, especially if one is an adult. It is the time that the scabs start to fall off; it is also the time when most postoperative bleeding occurs. Be patient, stay with liquids, and don't strain yourself, and the symptoms will begin to resolve. ...Read more

1 day post op from tonsillectomy, having dry heaves, but no blood. Are the scabs coming off so soon?
Patient, be patient:
Get info & help from surgeon - report bleeding. Ask for help to reduce dry heaves - any irritation in throat area is to be avoided if possible. Usually pain meds are stopped at 10 days, but you may hurt longer - protect scabs - they protect you. Drink water as much as you can - enjoy smoothies, ice-cream.
