The throat typically looks nasty during that period and a low grade fever often accompanies mild dehydration. Drinking lots of fluids will help, but until you are eating better, the recovery is slow. See below: Usually the first 24 hours aren't that bad. Here you can use whatever you can tolerate. I would suggest soft foods to start off with. The ice cream phase is what my daughter called it. Once you are past the initial phases it seems to get worse about day three. The patient really won't want to eat. Here i would just suggest trying liquids as tolerated. ...Read more

Pain medication: Likely the pain medication is playing a large role with the nausea you currently are experiencing. Many surgeons prescribe Lortab Elixir for their patients and this medicine is a combo of tylenol (acetaminophen) plus narcotic (hydrocodone). The medicine is likely making your nausea worse. Consider taking otc tylenol (acetaminophen) for you next scheduled dose. You could call your ENT for zofran odt which works great for nausea. ...Read more
