Sore throat: A hole in the gum is suggestive of a primary problem with the teeth. I could represent a cavity of the tooth with erosion of bone and early abscess formation. It could be from a tooth socket that is communicating with the sinuses. Throat infection: May be the start of a throat infection - pharyngitis. Gargle with warm salt water. Drink plenty of water and rest. If not too serious should pass in a few days. At your tonsils?: Hard white or yellow concretions in the tonsils are usually tonsilloliths or tonsil stones. Harmless although they can cause a foreign body sensation and contribute to halitosis. Not from vallecula: The vallecula is a gutter between the epiglottis and base of tongue that is covered with the lingual tonsils. The palatine tonsils sit just lateral to, the vallecula. Tonsil stones are usually from actinomyces bacteria from the mouth that get into crypts in the tonsils and could spill into the vallecula. Phelgm in throat: You are young for throat cancer unless you chewed a lot of betel nuts. More likely you have sinusitis, allergies with phelgm could try Zyrtec (cetirizine) and see if it helps . May be indolent infection/ sinusitis like mycoplasma for whihc you need antibiotics .Since it is 3 weeks would get it checked out by urgent care/ doctor this week. ...Read more

Several reasons: The term tonsillolith is a misnomer. It is not a stone. The material on the surface of the tonsil could be a benign cyst, a micro-abscess or food particles.
