Headache: Pretty rare occurrence. Most tonsils infections remain localized in the tonsil, causing considerable pain on swallowing or drinking. The redness and swelling of the throat is obvious with just a mirror and a light. If it spreads, the pain will become more generalized along with systemic fever and sweats. Been treated?: If a child has a sore throat then he should always get checked out for strep throat which is one bacteria which can cause a tonsillitis. If he has been treated and is recovering then i would recommend rest and lots of fluids. A humidifier for the room can also sometimes help. ...Read more
