Herpetic sores: Hi it is hard to say that without looking at the sores and finding out symptoms. However, it is possible that the herpes virus can cause sores in the mouth. Please check with your physician and dentist as soon as possible

Probably not: Herpes lesions last only about a week. If your dad's lesion hangs around for 10 days or more, have somebody take a look at it. It could be lots of things. Most of them not serious.

No: The cause is unknown. As it tends to run in families, there may be a genetic or familial link. Some suspect an alteration in the immune response as many patient who have psoriasis also have a geographic tongue. To my knowledge, there has been no link to virus as the cause. For the past month I have been having outbreaks in my mouth around once a week with a little blister on my gum or sometimes tongue. Is this herpes?

Aphthous ulcers: These are likely aphthous ulcers. Vitamin B12 and folate (folic acid) deficiency, stress, menstrual period, NSAIDS, other drugs have been known to be associated with these little recurring ulcers. If one ulcer lasts longer than a week or so something else is going on. We sometimes prescribe a steroid paste to help the pain.

Rash, sore throat: Herpes is typically painful. Onset of HIV is more likely to have flu-like symptoms, but it does show up with all sorts of symptoms. Please see your doctor or health department for comprehensive STI testing and prevention, just as a general precaution. Your symptoms are probably due to something more common, could be strep. Please have strep test, too.

It's possible: But without seeing what it looks like a definitive diagnosis can't be made. It it's painful, take ibuprofen or acetaminophen. If it doesn't improve within 2-3 days or if it worsens, you should see your doctor.

Tongue: There is along list of causes for this, to name a few apthous ulcer, herpes, reaction to gel, hand foot and mouth disease. You can try bongela but if its doesn't get better or any other symptoms arise then please consult your doctor.

Genital herpes: Herpes 2 is usually transmitted by contact with the genital area, but if the person is shedding virus onto his hand and touches the cigarette and then you put the cigarette in your mouth, it would be possible to transmit the virus to you. Herpes 2 can cause oral infection.

Oral herpes: Oral herpes is a viral infection from the herpes simplex virus. It usually starts as one or more blisters that break and leave a grey, cratered painful ulcer. It can occur anywhere in the mouth, and like any viral infection, may be accompanied by fever and muscle aches. They are sometimes mistaken for canker sores (aphthous ulcers), which are not caused by a virus. See your dentist to be sure.

Yes: If the person whose cigarette you are sharing has active lesions then you definitely are at risk. Even if this person doesn't have active lesions he/she might be shedding virus and can be contagious. It is best to not share cigs, or maybe consider quitting.
